Watch out!

Whoa! I woke up on THE WRONG SIDE OF THE BED this morning. Seriously. I AM GROUCHY. Everyone and everything annoys me. For example, I listened to a song on the radio and immediately thought "Those are the stupidest lyrics ever. I wonder who wrote that, cause I feel really embarrassed for them." GEEZ! What is my problem today. I need to snap out of it. And I hope I do it soon.

Stupid XBOX 360........what was I thinking?

After years of saying that we would never have video games in our house.........I went out and bought an Xbox 360 for Steven's Birthday. He was really really really HATING his job and I felt bad for him. So I thought that I would buy this for him so that he could just unwind at night. It was a great idea.....for about the first 5 minutes that I had it home. Its not Steven that has the problem though. It is Britton. The kid is completely addicted. I have been good about managing his time on it. At least I thought. Until tonight as I was tucking him in and we were talking, he informed me that he wasn't going to be able to be a soccer player anymore, as he had always planned. He said that it would take too much time away from the Xbox. I about died. I brought the dang thing into the house. Now it is time for me to bring it right back out.

A Thoughtful Prayer

Britton, at times, will say the most thoughtful prayers. Tonight it kept going and going and going. He had thanked Heavenly Father for the trees, every person he could think of, his bed, his shoes, his clothes, the light bulbs, the carpet, the couch. Steven and I opened our eyes to give each other a quick look and while our eyes were still opened we heard him say "And thank you that I could finish the last level of Lego Indiana Jones on the Xbox tonight." Steven couldn't hold it in. He laughed so hard, he was holding his nose to try to keep from laughing at Britt's prayer! Britton opened his eyes to see what we were laughing at. He didn't see what was so funny! At least he realizes that prayers are the time that we thank Heavenly Father for that we have been blessed with. :)

Is it May.....really?

So me and my blog lost touch there for a while. But I have big plans to become reacquainted over the next few days! I can't believe that it is already May. The twins will be one on the 21st. This past year has been a fun and busy one. I loved each of the stages that come in the first year of a child's life. And to witness those stages in two children at once has been fascinating to say the least. They are such a blessing to me and I love those little girls so much! Britton and Presley continue to make me laugh and I have some really funny stories to share. #1. I have decided that now that I have 4 kids and I am 35 lbs heavier than I was the day I got preggo with Britt, and now that the twins are almost a year, that it is time to finally lose weight. Ridiculous! So, after trying and failing miserably at every attempt to lose weight by counting calories and cooking 3 meals a day and eating snacks, etc., I thought I'd make it easy and start Slim Fast. Yes I know. But I like it and it is actually very convenient. So we are sitting at the dinner table the other night and Presley turns to Britton and says "Britton, did you know that Mommy is fat so she has to eat special food?" Without even skipping a beat Britton starts singing the song that the Hippo sings to Gloria on Madagascar II ..."I like em' big, I like em' juicy, I like em' chunky." After laughing for about 10 minutes straight we had a talk about how it isn't nice to call people (especially mommy who is very sensitive about her weight) "fat." :) I couldn't help but laugh!
#2. As you can imagine, having 4 kids with the oldest being 5 years old, my house is a disaster area 99.9% of the time. One day I turned off the TV and told the kids that it was time to clean up. ..That we were going to make our house sparkling clean. Britton got up and started to help while Presley kicked her feet up and laid back on the couch and watched us. This did not make me so happy. I had words with her and threatened her (a little :)). She still sat on the couch watching. So I told her to get upstairs to her room and start cleaning or she could just stay in there for timeout. So she went upstairs and I thought that I had finally gotten through to her. About 3 minutes later she comes walking down the stairs with something in her hand. She walks straight up to Britton and tossed a handful of money (quarters from her piggy bank) and said "Here, you can have all of this if you do my chores for me." I was shocked. What 3 year old knows that you can pay someone off? I had to leave the room I was laughing so hard. Yet at the same time I was so disappointed in her. I kid you not, after convincing Britton to do her chores, she sat up on the couch with her legs crossed, holding candy from her Easter basket and literally watched as he did her chores. I didn't know what to do. Do I punish her? Am I proud of her for how creative she is? I mean, she is 3 and is already wheeling and dealing! Good grief child! She makes me laugh!

Shots!

Getting shots, as in vaccines, is a topic that comes up on a regular basis at our house. The kids tell us pretty much every day how they never want to get a shot again. They think that we need reminding, so they bring it up as often as possible. In the middle of dinner someone will mention "i don't ever want to get a shot ever again, ok mom?" Well, as much as they cried and pleaded I had to take them to get their shots. I explained to Britton that you have to get shots if you want to go to school and that seemed to help because he loves school! I overheard him trying to comfort Presley as she cried before her shots and it melted my heart! He said "Presley, do you want to go to Winnie School (the pre-school my mom does Presley every Wednesday)? Well If you want to go to Winnie School then you have to get your shots ok? It will only be like a little pinch and then it won't hurt anymore ok." Ahh! It melted me! Then I laughed out loud! Pretty sure that "Winnie" School doesn't require vaccinations! ha ha. So cute!

Pops Wright

Kennedy loves her Pops. She loves it when he tickles her and plays with her. He somehow can get her to laugh harder than anyone else. My kids absolutely love my Dad. It is really special to watch them interact with each other. I'm blessed to be able to live close to family and to have my children have the opportunity to have a relationship with my parents. I need all the help I can get raising these little kids and my parents give wonderful advice and lots of love.
